C1S or Chromo paper is a speciality packaging, one-side coated paper that provides a superior print surface, excellent tear resistance, and excellent lay-flat, for all your coated one-side applications. It provides the ability to reduce basis weights while retaining similar strength properties. C1S delivers unequalled consistency for converting and filling efficiency in a wide range of its applications.
How it is manufactured?
It is made by putting a layer of clay over a fresh sheet or ground base paper. The base paper is made first, then put through a "bath" of clay coating or coated while running on a machine, with a blade and calendar rollers smoothing out the coating on the paper. The clay coating often accounts for as much as half the weight of the paper. Therefore, 10% postconsumer fibre content in a coated paper may actually equal only 5% of the total sheet. They are particularly valued by many for their crisp, vibrant reproduction of four-colour graphics and photographs.
